The coffee and cigarette series is a body of work that focuses on the underlying effects of cultural hybridization. The series is meant as a pun to showcase the rather pretentious attitudes of attaching sophistication to certain perceived behavioral of gesturial elements of foreign cultures. The coffee and cigarette series is largely portraiture in nature with faces of the characters dominating a larger part of the canvas surface area. The characters can also be seen with objects that metaphorically and/or literally convey the context of the series. These faces are executed in caricature proportions and its rendered in a mixture of materials such as acrylics and oils.
